Milana Aleksandrovna Vayntrub is an American comedian, actress and activist. Born in the Soviet Union to Jewish parents She began her career as a child actor shortly after immigrating to the United States. She came to prominence for her appearances in AT&T commercials on television as salesperson Lily Adams from 2013 to 2016 and , since then, until 2020. In addition to her commercial appearances, she also appeared as a regular on the Yahoo! Screen science-fiction comedy Other Space (2015). She also had an actor on the NBC drama This Is Us 2016-2017. Vayntrub has also voiced Squirrel Girl in the Marvel Rising franchise since 2018 after she was selected to play the character in the unaired television pilot for New Warriors. Vayntrub was born in Tashkent, Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR, and is Jewish. Her parents, who were just two years old, emigrated to America to escape antisemitism. They settled in West Hollywood. Her family's financial difficulties resulted in her appearing in Mattel Barbie commercials from the age of 5. Vayntrub briefly was a student at Beverly Hills High School. She quit her sophomore year and obtained an GED. Then she was able to receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication from University of California San Diego. She studied improv comedy with the Upright Citizens Brigade.
